JACK HOUGHTON, Furniture maker, lives and works in the heart of New York State farm and antiques country. Jack’s early wood work started when he crafted chainsaw carvings from tree trunks of water birds in such detail that beak indentations and feather lines were subtly visible. He began building farm tables as demand for them grew and availability of antique ones dwindled. Starting with antique and reclaimed woods, Jack eventually added new woods to the mix, crafting ways to make the tables look as if they’d been in a family for years. Jack’s workshop and antiques business are in the horse barn and carriage house at the back of the 1810 farm house he and his wife Dirinda call home. Mr. Houghton’s hand-crafted furniture pieces are available exclusively from Brooklyn Mercantile.

DIANA VICENTI, Fabric Artist, was born and raised in Lancaster, PA where she was influenced by Amish quilt making. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Painting and Printmaking, she is a decorative painter and window treatment fabricator. Ms. Vicenti became interested in fabric arts as a way to make use of left over scraps. Employing her painting background in the discovery process, she manipulates the fabrics and the relationship between them. Her unique reversible fabric bowls, colorful pillows and Christmas stockings are featured at Brooklyn Mercantile.
